The Decades is a series of paintings dealing with life's progress from child to senior citizen.  In the first painting The Age of Innocence, children are at play and exist in a carefree world of make-belief.  By the time the teenage years are in full flow an interest in those around us, and members of the oposite sex, stir The Dawn of Adventure when the great curiosity of emotional feelings inhabits our bodies.  In The Birth of Images the results of our adventures are evident as we settled down to life in our twenties.   As our thirties begin we have planted the seeds that will blossom in later life; we feel The Sense of Acceptance as those from all generations appear suddenly to recognise our existence which priorly not always was revealed.  And then on the brink of middle age The Coming of Wisdom sees our minds settle into a more relaxed life where most things are understandable, and where most problems are not found to be insurmountable.  With our new found inner peace we move into an age where we can take things or leave them, get involved or not get involved, as we choose.  The Freedom of Indifference is the human mind at its most liberated and marches us steadfastly until we bear The Fruits of Endeavour in our sixties.  To close the series The Glee of Seniority sees us quietly and self-satisfiedly knowing we have trod the path of life well.  We are happy to be senior; happy to look back on the progress we have made and on those we have known.
